Happy Birthday!

Born: June 3, 1911
Died: April 14, 1999

She appeared in several films and television shows during her long career.  On television she appeared on such shows as "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet", "Dragnet", "Lux Video Theatre", "Perry Mason", "Dennis the Menace", "The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.", "Hazel" and "Honey West."  These are only a few of the shows on her credits list.

Classic television lovers will recognize her in her notable guest roles:

Miss Hanna on "I Love Lucy"
Mr. Mooney's Secretary on "The Lucy Show"
Myrt "Hubcaps" Lesh on "The Andy Griffith Show"
Mrs. Emma Poke on "The Beverly Hillbillies"
Mother Lurch on "The Addams Family"

She is best remembered for her work as Esther "Grandma" Walton on "The Waltons" from the show's beginning in 1972 until age and illness forced her to leave in 1980.  She went on to appear in all six reunion movies making her final appearance on screen in 1997's "A Walton's Easter."  Once again age and illness reduced her appearances to brief cameos.

On her birthday...
