A wonderful television personality left us yesterday... Born: July 17, 1912... He was the only person in TV history to have five shows concurrently on network TV... His marriage to a lady named Lois Foerster began in November 1935, and at 74.5 years it is one of the longest Hollywood marriages in history... Some of his programs included "House Party" which was on both radio and television. He was also involved in "People Are Funny" and "The Art Linkletter Show" as well as "Kids Say the Darnest Things." As himself he appeared on "Pantomime Quiz", "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show", "The Tonight Show", "I've Got a Secret", "What's My Line?", "The Dean Martin Show", "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson", "The Hollywood Squares", "The Lucy Show", "Here's Lucy", "Batman" and "The Jack Benny Program." I remember where I was when I learned of his passing...I was in Jamestown, NY attending Lucy-Desi Days at the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center and I was down in the hotel lounge having some cereal and a bagel and when I tured the corner, my dad who was already seated, pointed up to the giant flat screen TV that had Mr. Albert's photo on it and the annoucement of his passing... He was born April 22, 1906... His film career included but is not limited to - The Fuller Brush Girl, The Longest Day, Brother Rat, Strange Voyage and You Gotta Stay Happy... It has been 15 years since the world lost one of its most talents and certainly most beautiful leading ladies! She was born on April 15, 1933. As the daughter of actor/producer/television pioneer Robert Montgomery she already had show business in the blood. During the early days of television (and the youngest years of her life) she appeared on such programs as "Climax!", "Studio One", "Playhouse 90", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Letter to Loretta", "77 Sunset Strip", "The Twilight Zone" and of course "Robert Montgomery Presents." From 1964 to 1972 she made television history as the adorable witch with the wiggly nose on the sitcom "Bewitched" which aired on the ABC network... In 1974 she appeared in the highly controversial made for television movie "A Case of Rape" which brought a face to the absolute horrors of not only the attack but also what can happen to the human being'

72 years...where are the aliens?

May 6, 1915 ----- One of Hollywood's greatest actors and directors would have turned 95 years old today... His huge body of work includes Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons... No one can forget his "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast in 1938 that scared the holy hell out of a lot of people! He passed away on October 10, 1985... Happy Birthday! In Memoriam Remembers: Orson Welles

There was only one Nancy Hughes and only one Helen Wagner

Sadly the matriarch of the Hughes family passed away on May 1, 2010... Born on September 3, 1918 she began on the stage in the 1940's and appeared on such television shows as "The Guiding Light" and The Philco Television Playhouse" in the 1950's before she stepped into the role that would earn her a place in television history... On April 2, 1956 the daytime soap opera "As the World Turns" began with the actress playing Nancy Hughes who spoke the show's first lines "Good Morning, Dear." She is in the Guiness Book of World Records for longest time spent playing any one television character. Her final appearance as Nancy was in April 2010 for the 54th anniversary show... Another great soap matriarch has left us... In Memoriam Remembers: Helen Wagner

125 Years of Hopper!

Today marks the 125th birthday of legendary Hollywood gossip columnist Hedda Hopper...! Known for her unique hats and controversial material the lady started as an actress in the 1920's and 30's... She made guest appearances on such shows as "Playhouse 90", "The Beverly Hillbillies", The Colgate Comedy Hour" and "The Garry Moore Show." My favorite Hedda appearances were on "I Love Lucy" in the episode "The Hedda Hopper Story" which originally aired on March 14, 1955 and "The Ford Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show" in the episode "Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana" which originally aired on November 6, 1957...
