William Schallert (1922-2016)

The man was the definition of the term "character actor."  To many people he will always be remembered as Martin Lane, father to Patty Lane, uncle to Cathy Lane on "The Patty Duke Show" but that is only one of many roles he played in his lifetime.  His first appearance on television was on "Family Theatre" in 1951...his credits include "Fireside Theatre", "Space Patrol", "Mr. & Mrs. North", "Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe", "Four Star Playhouse", "Lux Video Theatre", "Playhouse 90", "Zorro", "Leave it to Beaver", "The Gale Storm Show: Oh! Susanna", "The Loretta Young Show", "Adventures of Jim Bowie", "The George Burns & Gracie Allen Show", "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis", "Climax!", "Father Knows Best", "Maverick", "Peter Gunn", "Steve Canyon", &quo

Generations Knew Him!

Whether it was as Wilbur Post or in my case as the voice of Scrooge McDuck many generations of people knew this man.  His body of work was amazing everything from films like The Time Machine to classic guest appearances on such show as "Murder, She Wrote" and "Hart to Hart."  He will be missed for sure and most definitely - he will be remembered.
