A Drop of Honey!

Born: September 16, 1930 There is always a certain amount of sadness when I write any post but nothing kills me more than when I have to write one in honor of a character actress. Character actors have been the core of stage, screen, radio and television since they all began. The lady being remembered in this post began in films in 1947. She went on to appear in more than thirty films including Funny Girl, Bad Day at Black Rock, Dreamboat, The Rock, Blackboard Jungle, More Dead Than Alive, The Girl of the Night and Pancho Villa. Her most remembered film is the 1956 science fiction cult classic Forbidden Planet. Television was right around the corner! In the 1960's the spy programs were headlining primetime television. In a 1965 episode of "Burke's Law" audiences were introudced to the lovely Honey West for the first time. As the lady detective, she starred in the series "Honey West" for the entire 1965-1966 television season...in 1994 "Burke's Law" was revived and Gene Barry reprised his role, one episode featured an appearance by the lady detective this time however the character was called Honey Best. As a television character actor she appeared on "Suspense", "Kraft Theatre", "The Ford Television Theatre", "Lux Video Theatre", "Climax!", "Rawhide", "Sunday Showcase", "The Untouchables", "The United States Steel Hour", "Dr. Kildare", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "The Twilight Zone", "Arrest and Trial", "Ben Casey", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour", "The Fugitive", "Mission:Impossible", "The Virginian", "Love, American Style", "My Three Sons", "Gunsmoke", "Columbo", "Cannon", "The F.B.I.", "Banacek", "Ironside", "Kung Fu", "Ellery Queen", "Barnaby Jones", "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman", "Police Woman", "Hawaii Five-O", "Vega$", "Charlie's Angels", "Quincy M.E.", "Dallas", "Fantasy Island", "CHiPs", "The Love Boat", "Matlock", "Murder, She Wrote", "The Golden Girls", "Home Improvement", "Nash Bridges" and "The Drew Carey Show." She also appeared in several made for television movies during her long career. Her final film appearance was in Lover's Knot in 1996. She made her final television guest appearance on "Without a Trace" in 2004. At the time of her passing she had 167 acting credits to her name. In Memoriam Remembers: Anne Francis
