Herbert "Herb" Edelman

Born: November 5, 1933 This wonderful and very familiar character actor began appearing in films and on television in the 1960's. He more notable films were Barefoot in the Park and The Odd Couple... The 1980's and 90's saw him make recurring appearances on some of the most popular programs of the day. The role that he will forever be remembered for is as Stanley Zbornak, the toupee wearing ex-husband of Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) on "The Golden Girls." He made appearances on a recurring basis during the entire run of the series (1985-1992). He also made one lone guest appearance on the show's sequel "The Golden Palace" in 1993... From 1984 to 1988 he made recurring appearances on "St. Elsewhere" and from 1984 to 1995 he made recurring appearances on "Murder, She Wrote" most of the time playing the role of Lieutenant Artie Gelber... From 1968 to 1970 he appeared on "The Good Guys", from 1980 to 1981 he appeared on "Ladies' Man", from 1981 to 1982 he appeared on "Strike Force" and from 1982 to 1983 he appeared on "Nine to Five" all in regular roles... His other guest appearance roles include "Honey West", "That Girl", "The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "The Flying Nun", "The Mothers-In-Law", "Room 222", "The Bill Cosby Show", "Bewitched", "McMillan & Wife", "Mission:Impossible", "Love, American Style", "The Bold Ones: The New Doctors", "Ironside", "Maude", "Happy Days", "Barney Miller", "Cannon", "Police Story", "Ellery Queen", "Blansky's Beauties", "Lanigan's Rabbi", "Kojak", "CHiPs", "Chico and the Man", "Charlie's Angels", "Fantasy Island", "Trapper John, M.D.", "Highway to Heaven", "Cagney & Lacey", "The Love Boat", "Matlock", "thirtysomething", "The Bradys", "Knots Landing", "MacGyver", "Batman: The Animated Series", "L.A. Law" and "The Mommies." The actor's final acting role was on an episode of "Burke's Law" which originally aired on June 22, 1995.
