May 18, 1995

It has been 15 years since the world lost one of its most talents and certainly most beautiful leading ladies! She was born on April 15, 1933. As the daughter of actor/producer/television pioneer Robert Montgomery she already had show business in the blood. During the early days of television (and the youngest years of her life) she appeared on such programs as "Climax!", "Studio One", "Playhouse 90", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Letter to Loretta", "77 Sunset Strip", "The Twilight Zone" and of course "Robert Montgomery Presents." From 1964 to 1972 she made television history as the adorable witch with the wiggly nose on the sitcom "Bewitched" which aired on the ABC network... In 1974 she appeared in the highly controversial made for television movie "A Case of Rape" which brought a face to the absolute horrors of not only the attack but also what can happen to the human being's life and loved ones as a result of her trauma. Originally the network did not like the idea of the character in the production being raped for a second time but the scene remained and the powerful film went on the air... In 1975 she played the title role in the made for television movie "The Legend of Lizzie Borden." Throughout the 1980's and 1990's she continued in television guest appearances and made for television movies. In 1995 she learned she was suffering from colorectal cancer but continued to work. Her final project "Deadline for Murder: From the Files of Edna Buchanan" aired on May 8, 1995.....10 days later, only 8 weeks after her cancer diagnosis, the actress passed away in her home with her family around her... On September 12, 1995, months after her passing, a previously recorded episode of "Batman: The Animated Series" aired on FOX featuring the actress as a guest star providing the voice of a barmaid... Remembering her 15 years later... In Memoriam Remembers: Elizabeth Montgomery
