Remembering the cast of "The Lone Ranger" (1949-1957) [966]

September 14, 1914 (some sources say 1908) - the birthday of Clayton Moore.  In honor of his birthday we are remembering the cast of the television series that made him a star.  Moore passed away in 1999.

"The Lone Ranger" ran on ABC television from 1949 to 1957, producing 221 episodes over the course of five television seasons.

Jay Silverheels (1912-1980) played Tonto
Fred Foy (1921-2010) was the announcer

During the 1952-1953 season The Lone Ranger was played by John Hart (1917-2009) while Moore was engaged in a salary dispute.

Gerald Mohr (1914-1968) could be heard in some 1949 episodes as the narrator
Lane Bradford (1922-1973) played Duke Wade
Chuck Courtney (1930-2000) played Dan Reid, The Lone Ranger's nephew

*The character of Dan Reid was an ancestor of Britt Reid, who of course, was The Green Hornet*
