Yesterday I briefly mentioned Lloyd Bridges' birthday...here is a more indepth tribute to recognize the actor's 100th birthday.
Born: January 15, 1913
He appeared in several films throughout his career from the 1930's thru the 1990's. He also made an appearance on stage in the early 1940's. His contributions to television included "The Steve Allen Plymouth Show", "The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show", "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson", "The Merv Griffin Show", "Robert Montgomery Presents", "Suspense", "Goodyear Playhouse", "The United States Steel Hour", "Studio 57", "Climax!", "Playhouse 90", "Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse", "The DuPont Show with June Allyson", "Zane Grey Theatre", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "Mission: Impossible", "Here's Lucy", "Police Story", "The Love Boat", "Loving", "Paper Dolls", "Capital News" and "Harts of the West." He also appeared in countless made for television movies during the course of his career.
He headlined his own programs "The Lloyd Bridges Show" (1962-1963), "Sea Hunt" (1958-1961) and "Joe Forrester" (1975-1976). In 1980 he appeared in the film Airplane! which he followed up with Airplane II: The Sequel in 1982. He also appeared in Hot Shots! in 1991 and its sequel Hot Shots! Part Deux in 1993. Additional comedic films came in the form of Honey I Blew Up the Kid in 1992 and Jane Austen's Mafia! in 1998. His final film, Meeting Daddy wasn't released until 2000 - two years after the actor passed away. The actor made two appearances on the hit 1990's sitcom "Seinfeld" as Izzy Mandelbaum. The role brought him an entirely new generation of fans.
The great man passed away on March 10, 1998 at the age of 85.
