She will always be remembered for her bellowing laugh, crazy hair, zany wardrobe and amazing humor. It is a great tragedy that this lady has left us...
Her career began in the late 1950's and it didn't stop until she drew her last breathe only six days ago. As herself she appeared on many television shows including "You Bet Your Life", "The Jack Paar Tonight Show", "The Jack Paar Program", "The Match Game", "The Art Linkletter Show", "What's My Line?", "Jackie Gleason and his American Scene Magazine", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "I've Got a Secret", "The Milton Berle Show", "The Carol Burnett Show", "The Joey Bishop Show", "The Hollywood Palace", "The Ed Sullivan Show", The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson", "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "The Hollywood Squares", "Dinah!" and "The View."
As a stand up comedian she brought us her amazing characters: Fang, Moby Dick and so many more. She was a constant staple during the Dean Martin celebrity roasts of the 1970's and 1980's.
In the 1960's she briefly starred as herself in "The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show" - as an actress she appeared on "Batman", "The Red Skelton Hour", "Love, American Style", "CHiPs", "The Love Boat", "As the World Turns", "227", "Boy Meets World", "Blossom", "Titus", "The Drew Carey Show", "7th Heaven" and "Family Guy."
During the 1966-1967 television season she was the star of "The Phyllis Diller Show." Between 1995 and 2004 she a recurring role as Gladys Pope on the daytime soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful." She returned to play Gladys in March 2012 to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary.
