One of the world's most successful Shakesperean actors... Born: June 3, 1901 In addition to the time he spent appearing in Hamlet on Broadway he also appeared in more Shakespeare based productions of the "Hallmark Hall of Fame." His films include Planet of the Apes, Rosemary's Baby, Checkmate and Gilbert and Sullivan. On television he guest starred on "General Electric Theater", "The Steve Allen Plymouth Show", "The United States Steel Hour", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "I Spy", "Batman", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Tarzan", "The F.B.I.", "The Big Valley", "The Red Skelton Hour", "The Mod Squad", "Columbo", "Fantasy Island" and "The Love Boat." He had a recurring role as Maurice, Samantha's (Elizabeth Montgomery) warlock father on "Bewitched" from 1964 to 1971... His final acting role was in 1983's "A Caribbean Mystery" as Major Geoffrey Palgrave. The TV movie was based on an Agatha Christie novel of the same name. 22 years after his passing...
