Between TV and movies she appeared on some of the best productions ever produced. Her film credits include Driving Miss Daisy, House of Cards, My Fellow Americans, How to Make an American Quilt, Rosewood and Down in the Delta...
In 1972 she began playing the sharp tongued housekeeper Florida Evans on the sitcom "Maude" starring Beatrice Arthur. After two years as the sassy servant she spun off into her own series "Good Times" which began in February 1974. She left the series after a dispute with the producers in 1977 but returned the following year and remained until the series ended in 1979...
Other television credits include "One Life to Live", "The Merv Griffin Show", "The Incredible Hulk", "Flamingo Road", "The New Odd Couple", "Fantasy Island", "Murder, She Wrote", "Singer & Sons" and "Touched by an Angel."
She passed away on November 17, 1998...
