Born: July 29, 1924 A marvelous character actor died on this day five years ago. He appeared on some of the most popular television shows on the air during his forty plus year career. At the time of his passing he had 195 credits to his name... In 1962 he appeared in one of the most popular episodes of "The Twilight Zone." The episode, "To Serve Man" is best remembered for the actor's famous line "It's a cook book! It's a cook book!" His other most notable role was as the sinister Cecil Baldwin Colby during the first three seasons of "Dynasty." Cecil was the arch rival of Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) and the second husband of the devious Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins). Other television guest roles include "The United States Steel Hour", "Perry Mason", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "Honey West", "The Big Valley", "Ironside", "Gunsmoke", "Hawaii Five-O", "Fantasy Island", "The Love Boat", "Hotel", "The Golden Girls" and "Murder, She Wrote." One of his final roles was as the voice of Mayor Hamilton Hill in several episodes of "Batman: The Animated Series" in the 1990's. Five years after his passing...
