One of his earliest television appearance was on "The Donna Reed Show." From there on he built up an incredible resume as a television character actor. He become a household name when he began playing Rhoda Morganstern's (Valerie Harper) father in a few episodes of "Mary Tyler Moore." In 1974 "Rhoda" made it's debut and the actor was present as Mr. Morganstern on a recurring basis until the show ended in 1978...
On the big screen he appeared in such films as The Sting, Patch Adams, Freaky Friday, The Master of Disguise, Stuart Little, My Giant, The One and Only and The Big Bus...
In 1972, he played the original Howard Cunningham in a sketch on "Love, American Style." The sketch of course would lead to the beginning of the series "Happy Days." In the 1980's he spent time on Broadway. He appeared in several made for television movies, playing MGM head Louis B. Mayer in two different productions...In 1989 he began a recurring role as Miles Webber, boyfriend to Rose Nylund (Betty White) on "The Golden Girls." He reprised the role in two episodes of "The Golden Palace."
During the 1976-1977 he headed up his own program "The Feather and Father Gang" which only lasted 14 episodes.
His final film appearance was in English as a Second Language in 2005 and his final television role was on "Nip/Tuck", in an episode which originally aired on February 24, 2010...
