90 Years...
Happy 90th Birthday to an actress that appeared briefly on Broadway, film and prime time television before becoming an icon in daytime soaps.
In the 1940's she appeared on Broadway and went onto appear in a few films shortly after. She guest starred on such television shows as "Kraft Television Theatre", "The United States Steel Hour", "The Patty Duke Show" and "The Defenders."
On January 5, 1970 she began playing the role of Mona Kane (later Tyler) on the daytime soap opera "All My Children." Her character was the mother of the now infamous Erica Kane (Susan Lucci). She often sparred with the wealthy and snobbish Phoebe Tyler (Ruth Warrick), wife of her employer and later lover Dr. Charles Tyler (Hugh Franklin). Phoebe made several attempts to stop the relationship but in the end Charles divorced her and married Mona. Phoebe vs. Mona was on the next twenty years...
She played the role until her death from cancer on June 1, 1994...
