August 12, 1910
A very special 100th birthday post in honor of Miss Jane Wyatt. Even though she will always be remembered as Margaret Anderson on the sitcom "Father Knows Best" (1954-1960) it shouldn't be forgotten that this lady had a career on stage, screen and television that spanned seven decades! She made several appearances on Broadway in the 1930's, 1940's and finally ended her run in 1951. On television she made guest appearances on such shows as "What's My Line?", "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show", "Password All-Stars", "The United States Steel Hour", "Wagon Train", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour", "The Love Boat", "Happy Days" and "Hotel." In 1967 she became beloved by all "Star Trek" fans when she appeared as Amanda Grayson, the Earth mother of Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy). She reprised the role in the 1986 motion picture Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home...She made her first film appearance in 1934 but her best remembered film, Gentleman's Agreement, wouldn't come along for more than a decade...The actress reunited with her "Father Knows Best" co-star Robert Young on his 70's medical series "Marcus Welby, M.D." and also in a "Father Knows Best" reunion special in 1977. In the 1980's she had a recurring role as Katherine Auschlander on the medical drama "St. Elsewhere." She made her final acting appearance on an episode of "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" in 1992...She passed away on October 20, 2006 at the age of 96...Happy 100th Birthday!
