Audrey Christie

Born: June 27, 1912 A character actress who spent more time on television than anywhere else... On Broadway she appeared in The Voice of the Turtle playing the same role that was played by Eve Arden in the film version. She also appeared in Without Love playing the same role that was played by Lucille Ball in the film version. In 1968 she appeared as Vera Charles in Mame. In 1974 she appeared in the film version of Mame this time playing Mrs. Upson. At one point she played Vera Charles, a role that was originated by Bea Arthur...and then in 1975 she played the mother of Bea's character Maude Findlay in an episode of "Maude." Her first film was Keeper of the Flame in 1942. On television she appeared on such shows as "Suspense", "Inner Sanctum", "Kraft Theatre", "Robert Montgomery Presents", "The Motorola Television Hour", "The United States Steel Hour", "Goodyear Playhouse", "Summer Playhouse", "The Cara Williams Show", "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet", "Honey West", "The Smothers Brothers Show", "The Fugitive", "The Jackie Gleason Show", "That Girl", "Police Woman", "Starsky and Hutch", "Charlie's Angels" and "The Waltons." She appeared in several made for television movies during the 1970's... Her final acting role was on an episode of "Barney Miller", originally aired April 2, 1982...
