She was always there! This lady who would've turned 100 years old today was an actress you would see and say "I know her...she's been in other - movies, plays, television shows." Her stage credits include more than 200 productions, 27 of them being on Broadway. "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (She played the role of Nurse Preen in 5 different productions) The stage version (1930's) The film (1930's 0r 1940's) 1949 - "The Ford Theatre Hour" 1972 - "Hallmark Hall of Fame" 1972 - Made for television movie Her television credits include (incomplete): "The Peter Lind Hayes Show" "Studio One" "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" "Playhouse 90" "Make Room for Daddy" "The Thin Man" "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show" "Dennis the Menace" (recurring role as Miss Esther Cathcart) "The Donna Reed Show" "M*A*S*H" "Sanford and Son" "Tabitha" "The Love Boat" "The Waltons" "Trapper John, M.D." "Murder, She Wrote" "Highway to Heaven" From 1987 to 1991 she played Marie Murkin on the series "Father Dowling Mysteries" starring Tom Bosley. In the mid-1990's she appeared in such films as Sister Act and its sequel as well as Little Women which would be her final film role. She lent her voice to the 1996 Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame but she passed away before the release. Her final television role was as Grandma on the animated series "Life with Louie." The episode in which she appeared last didn't air until February 15, 1997, almost two years after the actress passed away. The actress had a close friendship with Lucille Ball. The result - an appearance on "I Love Lucy" and several on "The Lucy Show" and "Here's Lucy." She also appeared with Ball on her 1977 special "Lucy Calls the President."
