Today marks the 20th anniversary of Barbara Bel Geddes' final appearance on screen. The actress appeared on the hit prime time soap opera "Dallas" during the final years of her acting career playing the strong and solid matriarch Eleanor "Miss Ellie" Ewing Farlow. The 25th episode of the 13th season (1989-1990) featured Miss Ellie's final appearance on the series and Barbara's final appearance in any form of the medium. She was set to return in season 14 but at the last minute contract negotations fell through and Miss Ellie left for an extended trip around the world. Barbara was born on Halloween 1922 and left us just a short while ago on August 8, 2005... Twenty years ago television audiences watched you perform for the last time...God Bless you Barbara! Remembering the Cast of "Make Room for Daddy" / "The Danny Thomas Show" (583)

Doris Packer (May 30, 1904 - March 31, 1979)

She began in New York on Broadway and then started appearing on radio. Some of her radio credits include "Henry Aldrich" and "Mr. & Mrs. North." When she became a widow in 1953 she relocated to California where she began appearing on film and on television. Her first film was Meet Me at the Fair. She also appeared in The Perils of Pauline in 1967. She is best remembered as Mrs. Cornelia Rayburn, Beaver's Principal on "Leave it to Beaver." She also had a recurring role on "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis." Her final film appearance was in Shampoo in 1975...
