Happy Birthday!

Happy 88th Birthday to a wonderful actress... Although she appeared in such classic films as Vertigo and I Remember Mama and appeared in one of the most memorable episodes of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" she will forever be remember as Eleanor "Miss Ellie" Southworth Ewing Farlow on the hit 1980's prime time drama "Dallas." Born: July 29, 1924 A marvelous character actor died on this day five years ago. He appeared on some of the most popular television shows on the air during his forty plus year career. At the time of his passing he had 195 credits to his name... In 1962 he appeared in one of the most popular episodes of "The Twilight Zone." The episode, "To Serve Man" is best remembered for the actor's famous line "It's a cook book! It's a cook book!" His other most notable role was as the sinister Cecil Baldwin Colby during the first three seasons of "Dynasty." Cecil was the arch rival of Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) and the second husband of the devious Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins). A wonderful man was born on this day in 1915. As a cartoonist during the 1930's he created the one and only Dark Knight Detective himself - Batman. The year was 1938 and the hero was first seen in Detective Comics issue 27. And now, 72 years later he is one of the great icons this country has ever seen. Tom Bosley

Born: October 1, 1927 Like most performers of his generation he appeared on Broadway even winning a Tony award in 1961... In the earliest days of television he appeared on the "Hallmark Hall of Fame" twice, their production of Alice in Wonderland in 1955 and Arsenic & Old Lace in 1962. He appeared in a few films the most notable being Yours, Mine and Ours in 1968. From 1969 to 1970 he was a regular cast member on "The Debbie Reynolds Show" and in 1972 he was a regular cast member on "The Sandy Duncan Show." Also in 1972 he provided the voice in the animated series "Wait Until Your Father Gets Home" which lasted until 1974. From 1974 to 1984 he played one of television's most beloved father on the hit sitcom "Happy Days." As Howard Cunningham he became the father of not just Richie (Ron Howard) and Joanie (Erin Moran) but also the entire cast. In 1984 he began a recurring role as Sheriff Amos Tupper on the mystery drama

Barbara Billingsley

Born: December 22, 1915 She was the best example of the perfect mom that 1950's television had to offer. Sadly the woman who became known for doing housework while wearing her pearls died today at the age 94... She began in films in 1945 and most of her roles were uncredited. In 1951 she appeared in the original version of Angels in the Outfield starring Paul Douglas. She also made an appearance in the film Three Guys Named Mike starring Jane Wyman. Her most notable film was The Careless Years... In 1980 she returned to silver screen in the comedy spoof Airplane! She became well known to an entirely new generation of fans as the Jive Lady. Her final film appearance was in the 1997 film version of Leave it to Beaver in which she played Aunt Martha... From 1957 to 1963 she played her most famous role on the sitcom "Leave it to Beaver." Starting with the "Lux Video Theatre" he went on to appear on "Mister Peepers", "Suspense", "The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse", "Robert Montgomery Presents", "Goodyear Playhouse", "The United States Steel Hour", "Climax!", "Route 66", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre", "The DuPont Show of the Week" and "Dr. Kildare." He appeared on Broadway in 1955 in Guys and Dolls but sadly it closed after only sixteen performances. In 1965 he appeared opposite Art Carney in The Odd Couple...
